Brighton photo walk with Glyn Dewis

The Brighton photo walk organised by Glyn Dewis

This past weekend saw me, Mrs T and Tundra heading south for a little break. The excuse was to attend my good friend, Glyn Dewis‘s photo walk, held in Brighton on the south coast of England. We intended to take our time and stop off on the way so we left the day before.

As we didn’t have an agenda, other than being at our overnight stay in Cranleigh, we stayed away from the motorways, instead choosing to drive through the beautiful county of Shropshire. An accident had closed the road we were planning on taking so I detoured, finding ourselves not far from Ironbridge we decided that’s a great place to stop on our way south.

It’s a beautiful town with so much industrial history almost everywhere you look. We had a picnic on the banks of the River Severn, once again I’d tucked in with little thought of even an iPhone shot of the deliciousness Mrs T had created. A proper picnic photo shoot is definitely on the cards this summer.

I dusted off my Canon 40D and took a few snapshots whilst we took a look around. I’m no landscape photographer, but you’ll forgive me for trying 🙂

Then for the obligatory, balance the camera on a rock, set the shutter timer and run like a crazed orangutan into position, grimace at the camera whilst knocking everyone else over, photo.

Our evening was spent in the lovely Richard Onslow pub in Cranleigh. We can recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in the area. The most important thing for us is they welcome Tundra and have been great the three times we’ve stayed.

Brighton Pier

We met up with all the gang at Brighton Pier the following lunch time. The first walker I stumbled upon was my friend Brian Worley, apparently it’s quite hard not to be noticed with a 43kg white dog at your side. We hooked up with Glyn, Dave Clayton, James Hole and all the rest of the walkers and had a most enjoyable ramble through the streets of Brighton.

There are so many amazing characters on Brighton’s streets, unfortunately I didn’t really take any photos to show you, I was too busy chatting with the other walkers. One of the only shots I took was of Dave Clayton shooting graffiti art in one of the back streets.

The walk returned to the pier where we all gathered on the beach to chill out and have a right good natter, finishing up at Gourmet Burger Kitchen for a bite before heading home.

Photo walks are a great way to meet like minded people, if you ever get the chance to attend one I’d recommend it. Look out for the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo  Walk around October time, either join a walk or perhaps lead one.

If you’d like to take a look at the photos taken on the day go to the Flickr group that Glyn has set up, the group shot can be found here. You can also read Glyn’s blog about the day here.

That’s all for today, thanks for stopping by. I’ll catch you here very soon.

  1. Was great to see and spend some time with you all; thanks for popping along to the walk 🙂

Reading your post has really made me want to re visit Ironbridge…not been there since I was a kid at school.

Have a great weekend and speak soon,
    Glyn

    1. You guys should visit Ironbridge again, it may even make an interesting backdrop to an animal creation.

      Speak to you soon

      Jonathan

  2. I’m certainly jealous. But then again, Puerto Rico wasn’t so bad. Glad to see the good guys hanging out together!
