Happy New Year!!!  Hello and welcome to 2015, I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and are ready to shine like a new pin this year. After a season of indulgence I thought I’d share something much better for you, stunning to look at and really tasty, Granola Pots.

If you hadn’t guessed by now, my images regularly, very regularly, appear on a wonderful new website call Wilde Orchard. It’s all about the food but much more than pretty pictures and recipes, it’s about learning and being inspired to try something new.

My wife, Deb, is building this new venture off the back of her professional chef experience. After working for big, Michelin Starred names like Tom Kerridge, Simon Rogan and Micheal Cains, she wants to share her knowledge with anyone and everyone who’s interested. I’m sticking my neck out by mentioning a fictional chef, but as Gusto said in Ratatouille, “Anyone can cook.”  Although sometimes you need a little help getting you there, that’s where Wilde Orchard comes in.

I’m the in-house photographer for so many wonderful dishes, it gives me plenty of practice finding new ways to shoot, light, style and make the viewer hungry. After all, you don’t get to be great if you don’t practice your skills every day, right? I photograph many other subjects and study new techniques as often as my schedule allows, there’s so much you can bring from one subject and apply it to something completely different.  I believe it’s important to never stay still, push forward and be a little bit better at your craft today, than you were yesterday. The world around us is always moving, never staying still, therefore if you’re not progressing and nothing stands still, you can only be heading backwards.

Back to the Granola Pots

We bought some nice, simple tumblers to serve these in, I didn’t want a fancy glass distracting from the granola pots. I also like the way the clear glass shows cherry compote bleeding into the Greek yoghurt, creating that nice marble look, makes you want to dive right in, but I believe that’s the idea.

We also made this with an apple compote but I really like the colour contrast of the red cherry and white yogurt. You really should try making these granola pots, they’re so simple. The recipe and method are on the Milk & Honey website. Trust me, as in house taster, they are delicious. You can find the recipe and more photos are on Wilde Orchard.

I’ll be posting much more this year, not all of it will be food related, I have many talents in my photography bag and I like to break them out for some fresh air in-between restaurant and food photography shoots.

That’s all for now, but stay tuned via my RSS feed. Coming soon, a weekend of three very different photo shoots and a number of cool restaurants I was commissioned to photograph in London.
