Making the most of the last summer raspberries
Hello everyone. The wonderful bounty of local summer fruits are coming to an end. It’s time to look forward to Autumn’s glorious colours and tasty offerings.
Wilde Orchard asked me to shoot a very beautiful, tasty and pretty simple final hurrah to, what’s been, a marvellous British summer. They’d picked up the last harvest of raspberries from the local Willingdon Fruit Farm and wanted to celebrate them but use them, just as they are. I was told it was a puff pastry base, filled with vanilla custard and simple topped with fresh local red and golden raspberries. You didn’t have to ask me twice I can tell you. I wanted to give the image a fresh feel but light it in a way that tells the story of the time of year. This is what I came up with and yes, it was as divine as it looks.
Incase you’re interested
For those who are interested, this is shot with my 85 1.2L connected to a macro extension tube to get the lens close. Key light metered at f5.6 and a couple of fill cards to lift the shadows, followed by some basic post production in Adobe Lightroom.
Good bye summer
That’s all from me for today. Farewell summer 2014, you were lovely and warm, welcome Autumn, lets see what goodies you have for us.
