12 Days of Christmas, Day 10

Happy New Year!!! I would like to wish you all the most magnificent 2019 and may it bring you all the very best life can give. One of my goals for this year is to do more personal projects which really go to the heart of me. I also want to shoot some fun projects and work on more collaborations. How about you, what are your photographic goals this year?

Today’s shot was with Calum Adams of Bespoke Drinks Company  He had access to a cool cocktail bar in Chester and we were going to create some images to promote his events.

Calum is really keen to bring a whole vibe to Chester’s Northern Quarter, with all the bars and restaurants working together, building a community celebrating all that’s magical in food and drink. I’m right there with him. I’d like to see a hospitality scene more akin to the cool bars I’ve experienced living throughout Europe. An area where you meander from place to place and enjoy all the different experiences on tap.

Keeping the lighting really simple with one light. A single Canon Speedlite in my favourite small softbox giving a bit of an edgy light. Dragging the shutter to bring in more ambient light and shooting on a tripod for extra stability. The other effect of dragging the shutter is to capture a bit of motion blur in Calum, which gives a more interesting look I think.

If you’re interested in mixing ambient and flash, follow the link to my article.

Cheers for popping by my blog. If you have any questions regarding these shots, don’t hesitate to ask. See you tomorrow for Day 11.
